What started as a long day at the makeup studio became one woman’s vision to launch a company that would bring groundbreaking, salon-quality beauty products to everyone.

Anita Sun, licensed esthetician, founder of Karmissie and creator of the company’s premier product, The Threader® LUX, has a long history within the beauty industry. At the tender age of twelve, Ms. Sun learned the ancient art of threading from her mother who herself is a master threading specialist, learned in a technique passed down from generation to generation by the women in their family.

After graduating from the University of California at Riverside, where she received a BS in Business Administration, she decided to indulge her passion for beauty, working at Blink Eyebrows and Cosmetics in San Francisco under the tutelage of renowned makeup artist, Anna Lee. Ms. Sun counts Ms. Lee as both a mentor and good friend, who always encouraged her to follow her heart and take her passion to the next level.

After her tenure at Blink, Ms. Sun worked heartily to perfect her own skills in makeup artistry while offering the natural method of threading hair removal at several prestigious salons, including Fred Segal Beauty and The Bellezza Salon in the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel.

Always striving to bring quality and beauty to her clients, it’s no surprise that Ms. Sun boasts an impressive clientele that includes celebrities and socialites, and certifications from luxury brands including Nars, Shiseido, Cle de Peau, and LG.

After years of honing her skills and listening to the requests of her clients, she decided to combine her love of beauty with her entrepreneurial flair to create her own beauty company, Karmissie. Her goals for the company are simple: to create innovative and beneficial beauty products that are not currently available on the market.

Her first offering, the Threader LUX, combines the ancient threading technique from her cultural heritage and her industry experience with modern engineering. It is carefully designed to recreate the exact angles used by master threading specialists, lifting unwanted hairs directly from the follicle to ensure smooth, long-lasting, and instant results. The Threader LUX is easy to use and more cost efficient than monthly visits to the salon are, keeping true to Ms. Sun’s beauty philosophy:

A native of Taiwan, Ms. Sun is fluent in not one, but three languages: Mandarin-Chinese, Japanese, and English. She currently resides in Los Angeles, California with her drooly Old English Bulldog Mimi.
