Q: Sometimes the threads slip off the hair and the threader doesn’t pull. What do I do if the Threader LUX is not pulling the hair completely?

A: The threads may not be grabbing the hair because hair is usually coated with a protective layer of oil from the skin. Therefore it is essential to coat the skin and threading area with the Chalk (included in the Deluxe Threader Kit) to maximize the effectiveness of the threading system. Similar to the way a gymnast uses chalk so as not to slip off the bar, the Chalk powder should also be used to prevent the threads from slipping off hairs. The Chalk, which is made of rice powder, is not the same as baby powder or other loose powders because these contain mineral and glycerin oils, which will not absorb the oils from the hairs and skin like the Chalk does. Also, you will want to make sure you are pulling in the opposite direction of the hair growth. Please refer to the illustrations in the Quick Guide insert, DVD, or our website for reference. Be sure the threads are still tightly fastened in the arms of the Threader LUX. You can remove one end of the white thread piece and wind it again to tighten the threads if needed. Note: The tighter the threads are wound, the shorter and finer the hairs the threads will grab.

Q: What do I do if the threads get stuck and the arms of the Threader LUX and are not retracting effectively?

A: The same way a threading professional resets their fingers to move the twists of the threads back in place, the Threader LUX’s arms will need to be reset due to the tension of the technique. To reset the tension of the trigger button and threads on the Threader LUX, hold the two shorter arms (the arms on the left side when the trigger button is facing away from the body) with your fingers and push them together to reset the twisted threads to the middle. You can reset the Threader LUX whenever the trigger button does not spring back. Another way of using the Threader LUX on the upper lip and chin area without using the trigger button is by taking the arms of the Threader LUX and holding them with fingers on both hands and placing them on each pair of arms. Then push one pair of arms together and then push the other pair of arms together while releasing the first pair of arms. Take turns back and forth by pushing and releasing the pairs of arms (like a seesaw) while pushing the threads into to skin to glide back and forth to pull hairs. 

Q: Can I rotate the Threader LUX around and use it upside down as well?

A: Getting the hang of any new product requires time to get used to the way it works. So feel free to push down on the trigger button with your four fingers or with your thumb. Find ways of using the product that is comfortable and easy for you. You may find that you use the Threader LUX better in certain areas upside down. The best part about the Threader LUX is that there is really no wrong way to use it as long as the threads are grabbing the hairs.

The threads roll out even the shortest of hairs directly over the skin’s surface by springing off its natural elasticity to remove hair. Q: How often do I have to use this product?

A: Every individual possesses unique hair growth patterns.  On average, hair grows in two cycles every three weeks. We recommend you use the Threader LUX at least once every three weeks to maintain a smooth appearance. This regimen will promote slower hair re-growth patterns and within a short period of time hairs will grow in noticeably thinner.

Q: How often do you have to change the threads and where can you buy more threads? How long do they last?

A: Each set of threads should last up to an entire face threading session and does not need to be changed out each time if you use on clean skin (no makeup). The threads will continue to pull effectively until all of the fibers completely wear off. Be sure to undo the end of the white thread and wind up 1-2 more times as the natural fibers of the threads loosen up with use. The tighter the threads are wound, the finer the hairs it will catch and pull out. Unlike waxing, with threading, you can go over the same area on the skin multiple times until all unwanted hairs are removed without causing damage to the skin.

Q: Can men use this product?

A: It is not recommended for men’s use because their skin is too thin and their hair is too coarse. The follicles in beard hair are deep-rooted which may lead to infection when using an epilation method.

Q: Does the Threader LUX work effectively on underarm hair and the bikini area?

A: The Threader LUX can effectively remove hairs on the body including underarms and the bikini areas. When working on these areas, we recommend that you hold the skin taught and target those areas with caution, similar to how you would by tweezing.

Q: How often do I need to replace the threads?

A: The disposable refill threads used with the Threader LUX are designed for single use to achieve the highest level of hygiene for hair removal. A: The threads wind around individual hairs and run against each other, gliding on the skin to lift hairs off in rows instead of one hair at a time.  Because it removes hairs in rows, the technique is considered more efficient and less time-consuming than tweezing. For more precise removal, aim the Threader LUX at the point where the two thread pieces cross to target the individual hairs.

Q: What is the Chalk and how do I use it?

A: The Chalk is a condensed block of rice powder used to make hairs more visible on the skin. The Chalk also absorbs the skin’s natural oils making the surface of the skin more effective for the fibers of the threads to glide on. Apply an ample layer of the Chalk (until the powder appears white on the skin) to the desired area. Wash off the excess amount with lukewarm or cold water after threading and apply the Closer lotion.
