From Anita Sun of Karmissie

Growing up with educated, entrepreneurial parents no doubt influenced Anita Sun’s path in life. From product start-ups to a nationwide chain of martial arts schools, her father also holds a PhD in Eastern Medicine and is a licensed acupuncturist. Anita’s mother, a makeup artist and licensed esthetician for more than 30 years, successfully established and has since operated three beauty day spas in Northern California for more than 20 years.

The hard work and dedication of her parents surely sparked the passion and determination in her to do the same: fresh from a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in international business, Anita planned for a JD/MBA to apply her foreign language skills in international business law. While waiting to hear back from graduate schools, she obtained her esthetician license and began working in her mother’s salons. Surrounded by beauty, makeup, health, and skin care her entire life, Anita was already helping friends and family do their makeup, shape their brows, give them facials, and thread their faces. At the same time, while helping her father translate herbal medicine names, she learned about the healing properties of Chinese herbal medicine and frequented naturopathic pharmacies to purchase the tinctures. 

Until then, Anita had yet to apply her skills on a professional level. While wholly passionate about her work in the world of makeup, beauty and skin care, Anita finds a deeper satisfaction in helping others by sharing her knowledge and utilizing her artistry skills so others feel more confident in achieving their beauty potential.

After receiving her esthetician license, Anita met her mentor and accepted an invitation to bring her specialized beauty services, including facial hair threading, to a newly opened makeup studio in downtown San Francisco. From there, she was able to build her clientele and do what she was truly passionate about everyday. To this day, Anita continues to take client appointments to service them, teach them, and beautify them.

Throughout the entire journey of developing the Threader LUX product line, Anita remains motivated each and every day, thanks to the clients who have become dear friends over the years. After listening to their testimonials and witnessing profound happiness from the results she’d provided, Anita was inspired to create the Karmissie brand and company. With Karmissie, her mission is to continue to produce innovative products that take in-salon services and bring them to the homes of clients that she cannot personally reach. This way anyone can benefit from these result-oriented products and look and feel great every day.
